📘 La forme interrogative
La forme interrogative en anglais utilise une inversion sujet-auxiliaire. Les questions ouvertes commencent par un mot interrogatif (wh- word).
📐 I. Questions fermées (oui/non)
Auxiliaire + sujet + BV?
• Be : Are you happy? Was she there?
• Have : Have you seen it? Had they left?
• Modal : Can you swim? Will she come?
• Autres verbes (do/does/did) : Do you like it? Does she know? Did they win?
Réponses courtes : Yes, I do/am/can/will. No, she doesn’t/isn’t/can’t.
📐 II. Questions ouvertes (wh-)
Mot interrogatif + auxiliaire + sujet + BV?
| Mot interrogatif | Sens | Exemple |
|---|---|---|
| What | quoi, quel | What are you doing? |
| Who | qui (sujet) | Who called you? |
| Whom | qui (complément, soutenu) | Whom did she meet? |
| Which | quel (choix limité) | Which one do you prefer? |
| Where | où | Where do you live? |
| When | quand | When did it happen? |
| Why | pourquoi | Why are you late? |
| How | comment, combien | How are you? How much? |
Who/What en tant que sujet : pas d’auxiliaire do/does !
Who called you? (who = sujet, pas d’inversion)
What happened? (not: What did happen?)
📐 III. Questions indirectes
Ordre affirmatif (pas d’inversion) :
Could you tell me where he lives? Do you know if she is coming?
💡 À retenir
• Questions fermées : auxiliaire avant le sujet.
• Autres verbes : do/does/did + BV (sans -s).
• Who/What sujets → pas de do/does.
• Questions indirectes : ordre affirmatif (pas d’inversion).
